Need info on antique japanese/chinese candle holders.?

its about 14 inch tall , iv got a pair of them. they come apart. bronze hand carved. dragon fu dog and some sorta eagle. the mark on the bottom dates to 1684. looks like a lot of time was spent. anyone seen one of these before and is it rare?
