Why are people with dreadlocks looked down upon?

Everyone says it's hard for people with dreads to get a good job but it's easy for them to get pulled over by the police. They say because so many people with dreads are drugdealers or criminals. I myself have dreads but I'm a nice kid. I jus graduated high school and EVERYONE ls cool with me once they meet me. I played football all my years in high school and i enjoy living a healthy lifestyle. So even tho I'm an exact opposite from the others, do u think it will be hard for me to get a good job once I graduate college?
