Who is the best amateur ever?

Laszlo Pap is the greatest amateur of all time. He came to boxing late in a country that had nothing to do with boxing and yet had a truly outstanding amateur career. He amassed an amateur record of 288-12 with 55 first round KO, although many people believe he had many more contests that went unrecorded. He won three Olympic gold medals at two weights and was a two time gold medalist at the European amateur championships, he also beat future pro light heavyweight champion Jose Torres in the amateurs and the amateur who gave a young Ali/Clay trouble zibignew Pietrzyk. As a pro he was undefeated in 29 contests (2 draws) he was European champion and a leading contender for the middleweight title, however communist Hungary revoked his boxing license. However his professional career ended no one else comes close to equaling him as an amateur.
